Thanks Urs!

I agree with you that universities might be better off going the traditional way. Instead, crowdfunding could be an interesting way to fund some out of the box projects that do not need "big funds."

THanks for reading and commenting! I appreciate you reading and sharing your views.

Thank you so much. Now I found it. Incidentally, the link for Michèle Laird - http://socialmediaswitzerland.org/2013/05/16/crowdfunding/ch.linkedin.com/pub/mich%C3%A8le-laird/2/69a/685
fails to work.

By the way, I find her example for the film Veronica Mars a great example. However, more for the purpose of how one should not use crowdfunding. If Hollywood uses crowdfunding .... innovative projects may not get any. Unfair competition it seems.

Finally, I am not sure if this is worth it for universities to fund projects this way. Yes, projects that come out of the incubator may get some seed funding this way. But otherwise raise money from alumni using crowdfunding. Why should a university do that when it can do it better another way. Incidentally, getting a few millions for a building might be easier doing it the old fashioned way, meeting donors and talking to alumni?

I appreciate you taking a position on this. It is refreshing and useful for me to sharpen my own ideas. Merci.

Respectfully

Hi Urs,

Thanks for sharing this
After reading the material I started wondering where I could find the sources you used in this blog entry (e.g., deeplink for Swissinfo story).
Would be nice if the link would have been provided with this story.
Maybe next time.

Thanks for sharing.
